Basic Life Support ( BLS Provider) and First Aid Training

Heart+Stroke - BLS

BLS Provider

  • BLS Provider is an instructor-led and fundamental course for all healthcare professionals. 

​​

  • You will learn single and multi-rescuer basic life support skills with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics.

​

  • BLS is a pre-requisite for advanced resuscitation courses and many healthcare-related training programs.

​

  • Certification in BLS Provider (Heart + Stroke)  is often required for employment in the healthcare field.

​

    Course Duration - 3.5 hours

BLS Blended Provider

  • BLS Blended Provider is the fundamental course for all healthcare and emergency medical providers, delivered in a flexible format.

​

  • The course covers the same curriculum and teaches the same skills as the traditional instructor-led course but is delivered online through self-paced learning modules. Then followed by an in-classroom training to offer a comprehensive experience. ​​​

​

    Course Duration:

       Online - 1 to 2 hours

       In Class - 2 hours

       Total - 3 to 4 hours

BLS Provider Renewal

  • BLS Provider Renewal course is a fast-paced course designed for experienced healthcare providers. 

​​

  • This course assumes comprehensive awareness, knowledge and skill proficiency in Heart & Stroke BLS concepts.

​

  • Best suited to healthcare providers who use BLS skills regularly 

 

   Prerequisites: 

    Current Heart & Stroke BLS Provider                      certification 

                                      OR

    BLS Renewal Prerequisite  Challenge                    Certificate

Heartsaver CPR AED 
Level C

  • Heartsaver is the essential CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) course.


  This course is for: 

  • Course completion card for workplace, volunteer or other requirements.​

  • People ready, willing and able to help in case of a cardiac arrest or choking.​

  • Caregivers, parents and families with children or infants, who want to be prepared.

​​

  Content:

  • How high-quality CPR improves survival

  • Concepts of the Chain of Survival

  • Recognizing need for CPR

  • Adult CPR and AED use

  • Adult choking relief

  • Child CPR, AED and choking

  • Infant CPR and choking

  Course Duration - 4.35 hours

​

  Course Completion Card:

  Heartsaver CPR/AED Level C

  (Valid for 1 year)

Standard First Aid
Level C
​

  • Standard First Aid is a comprehensive 2-day program.

​​

  • Designed to teach you essential skills to effectively respond to medical emergencies.

 

  • This course meets provincial workplace regulatory requirements 

 

  • Covers CPR

  • Responding to breathing, airway and circulation emergencies 

  • Control of bleeding 

  • Shock 

  • Stabilizing fractures and dislocations

  • Had and spine injuries, and more.

    Course Duration - 16 hours

​

    Course Completion Card:

     Standard First Aid + CPR             Level C (Valid for 3 years)

Standard First Aid + BLS

  • Comprehensive 18-hour course combines Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider courses.

 

  • Instructor-led course meets provincial workplace regulatory requirements.  

​​

  • Intended for healthcare and emergency care professionals and providers across varying disciplines.

​

  • ​Successful students earn: â€‹

  • 3-year Standard First Aid certification

       and

  • 1-year BLS Provider card.

​

   Course Duration - 18 hours

​

   Course Completion Cards:

      1. Standard First Aid +

         CPR-C (Valid 3 years)

      2. BLS Provider (Valid 1 year)

Recertification
Standard First Aid

  • Standard First Aid Recertification is 1-day course intended for people whose current Standard First Aid CPR AED Level C card is nearing expiry.

 

  • Reviews proven methods for providing standard first aid to injured or ill persons.

   Prerequisite - Current (not       expired) Standard First Aid      certification

 

   Course Duration - 8 hours

   Course Completion Card: 

    Standard First Aid + CPR-C

    (Valid for 3 years)
